Kendell and Simon were married on June 25, 2022 in a beautiful summer wedding at Hollyfield Manor. Everything from their venue, to their amazing hype people, to their party at the reception was absolutely perfect. I’ve had the privilege of documenting many beautiful love stories at Hollyfield Manor and while it never disappoints but Kendell and Simon’s was definitely for the books.
Kendell and Simon
There are so many things that I could share about Kendell and Simon because I absolutely LOVE them and their sweet, playful relationship, but I’ll settle for sharing a little bit of their love story. They met in college at Indiana University where they were both athletes!
Kendell graduated and headed back to her home state of Virginia to pursue her masters and so they made the decision to do long distance for the following two years. In those two years Simon’s dream of being drafted by the NFL came to fruition. And while life may have had different plans for the two of them, the accomplishment deserves to be celebrated!
Simon and Kendell are two of the most humble and sweet people that you will ever have the pleasure of meeting. I’m so grateful they chose me to help capture their beautiful summer wedding at Hollyfield Manor.
Summer Wedding at Hollyfield Manor
Hollyfield Manor located in Manquin, Virginia is one of my favorite venues. I’ve captured so many couples here, for both weddings and engagements, and it really does just get better and better. Hollyfield Manor is full of southern charm and the absolute best southern hospitality to go around. From the stunning grounds to the lovingly restored interior rooms, Kendell and Simon’s decision to have their summer wedding at Hollyfield Manor was absolutely the right one.
The Wedding Day
On June 25, 2022 Virginia had a sunny and very warm day, but we were all extremely grateful for the weather that we had because it meant that Kendell and Simon’s summer wedding at Hollyfield Manor went perfectly.
When I walked into the bridal suite, Kendell and her bridesmaids were sippin’ on champagne and listening to music. The perfect way to spend the morning of your wedding day! We did a first look with all the girls and their reactions were just the sweetest.
While the girls were getting ready, the boys were, well being boys ;)! They were having a great time and really hyping Simon up.
In fact, the whole bridal party (which had friends from childhood to college), was seriously the best hype squad I’ve seen. There was constant encouragement and celebration of Kendell and Simon.
The encouragement didn’t end with their hype squad. Their friends and family who traveled from near and far to celebrate them were just as hyped. Kendell and Simon value family so much, it was definitely exuded throughout the day.
The Little Details
Kendell was a very detailed and organized bride which I LOVE. The entire day included so many details, beautiful lush florals, and of course a stunning custom invitation suite.
I think one of my favorite moments from this day, however, was the first look that Kendell had with her dad. *Cue all the tears*. I have never seen a reaction more pure and sweet than the one Kendell’s dad had.
Kendell and Simon had a band for the reception and let me tell you, that dance floor stayed PACKED all night long. While it made capturing photos of that time a little difficult, the memories that were made were priceless.
